Hey everyone, I'm starting my first custom PC build. I just need a few more parts, but the budget is slowing things down. It's a tricky decision—on one hand it makes planning easier, on the other it gives me a taste of what Windows 10 might bring for a gaming setup. I was thinking Windows 7 for the OS, but since Windows 10 is launching soon, I'm curious how people feel about it for a mainly gaming rig.

Windows 10 offers a complimentary upgrade for users of Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 during its initial launch year, with the change lasting indefinitely. Additionally, Windows 10 includes DX12 as an exclusive feature. It is expected to outperform Windows 8.1, and the most recent version continues this improvement.

From what I've noticed, Windows 10 is expected to be really impressive. However, you can choose Windows 7 for a more stable experience or go with Windows 10 if you're willing to take some risks, since opinions about it have been mixed.

We might accidentally pour milk everywhere because of a mix-up or lack of attention.

Get 7 and then upgrade to 10 for free at the end of the month. This site is a good place to find it—Microsoft Software Swap on Reddit works well with Windows 8.1 Pro.

There was a spirit, n..and its energy...it wasn't me—it was a mysterious ghost.

Windows 7 is actually worse than Windows 8, it gradually slows down and becomes slow over time.

I prefer 7 more than 8, and since the OP is likely using it for a short time, choosing over 8 would be a good idea.
