I switched to Windows 10 but don’t like it, so I want to revert to Windows 7. After wiping my drive and deleting the Windows 7 backup, I lost access to the “Return to Windows 7” option. I saved my product key with Magical Jelly Bean and attempted to install Windows 7 from a USB drive, but the site doesn’t accept it. I’ve reinstalled Magical Jelly Bean on Windows 10 using a different key, yet it still flags the key as invalid and shows an error code. I’m seeking assistance with this issue.

Your Windows key has changed to a Windows 10 version, which means it won’t recognize a Windows 7 license. What’s the issue you’re facing with Windows 10?

Trackpad movement isn't functioning properly, the audio driver is corrupted, and overall it seems like a driver problem. Since your laptop has a GT 230M chipset, it doesn't support DX 12. I also favor the look and feel of Windows 7.

Get the ISO file and attach it to a USB drive... the key worked and everything is resolved.

According to @ ShadowCaptain, after upgrading, the Windows key for Windows 7 or earlier becomes inactive and only works with Windows 10. I don’t have a specific source for this detail.

The key is unavailable for version 7. No updates from the laptop maker or chipset suppliers have been released. Support remains limited to older versions like DX10 and 11.

Windows 10 was configured with a one-month window for rollback if the user hadn’t intentionally altered settings or forced a clean reinstall. Once that period passed, a warning appeared indicating that further resets would be irreversible and you’d lose access to previous versions. It’s wise to save all data and carefully review each step before proceeding.
