Reducing Windows version from 10 to 7 earlier versions
Reducing Windows version from 10 to 7 earlier versions
I switched to Windows 10 but don’t like it, so I want to revert to Windows 7. After wiping my drive and deleting the Windows 7 backup, I lost access to the “Return to Windows 7” option. I saved my product key with Magical Jelly Bean and attempted to install Windows 7 from a USB drive, but the site doesn’t accept it. I’ve reinstalled Magical Jelly Bean on Windows 10 using a different key, yet it still flags the key as invalid and shows an error code. I’m seeking assistance with this issue.
According to @ ShadowCaptain, after upgrading, the Windows key for Windows 7 or earlier becomes inactive and only works with Windows 10. I don’t have a specific source for this detail.
The key is unavailable for version 7. No updates from the laptop maker or chipset suppliers have been released. Support remains limited to older versions like DX10 and 11.
Windows 10 was configured with a one-month window for rollback if the user hadn’t intentionally altered settings or forced a clean reinstall. Once that period passed, a warning appeared indicating that further resets would be irreversible and you’d lose access to previous versions. It’s wise to save all data and carefully review each step before proceeding.
