Reducing RAM Usage On Host Machine
Your system uses an operating system. The available RAM falls short for running virtual machines.
The 32-bit edition works better on systems with limited RAM. The 64-bit version needs at least 2GB, and 4GB is the real minimum for proper operation.
Increase the swap space for both host and virtual machine. Start with at least 8 GB each. Even though performance will be slow due to IOPS and assuming an HDD, a lighter OS like Puppy Linux could work. It might run fine with less than 1 GB of RAM throughout the day.
