Motherboard: Asus B760-G PSU: 750W Cooler: 240mm AIO RAM: Corsair 6000MHz BIOS version: 1663 (latest with Intel microcode update 0x129) Monitoring tools: HWmonitor + HWinfo (both functional) While running Cinebench R23 (multicore), the p-cores turbo frequency halts at 4988MHz, which is unusual because prior to the BIOS update it reached up to 5287MHz. Temperatures stay between 70-85°C, voltage remains at 1.350V as measured by the tools. Power ratings range from 230-253W, matching the max values in Intel's specs (both PL1 and PL2 set to 253W). The PL settings change and XMP is enabled in the BIOS; other configurations are left unchanged, all defaults applied.

Adjusting the PLs indicates possible power constraints. Increase your power settings in UEFI or employ tools such as Intel XTU.

The readings remain fairly consistent, hovering near the 253W target. Your observation about occasional drops to about 230W isn’t unusual and doesn’t necessarily indicate a power limitation problem.

Doesn't this indicate power throttling when reaching the 253W limit? To confirm, in ThrottleStop, look at the Limits section—PL1 or PL2 suggests throttling is occurring. You can also check Hwinfo for similar details.

You adjusted the limits directly instead of configuring the Intel profile for Performance mode. The latter is advised to ensure the vcore limit is enforced. I’d prefer to see a 1.35v setting, as I think 1.5v will cause more harm than normal.

The CPU is struggling to stay within the 253W turbo capacity. Raise that threshold so it can run at full performance. V-MAX throttling occurs because the voltage is too high. Are you using a B760 board? I haven’t heard of a Z760 model. The most recent BIOS updates probably prevent changing the maximum voltage setting. Consider clearing the V-MAX option in the FIVR settings if possible. Please share a screenshot of that window. Edit – It seems Intel has significantly reduced the max voltage limit in the latest BIOS release.

Increase PL1 and PL2 values further. Notice the temperature is exceeding 90°C, so I won’t suggest additional performance gains.

The latest BIOS update is responsible for the slower speeds you're experiencing. You have the choice on how to handle this situation. If you believe Intel has the right approach, you can keep things as they are. Your system might not perform optimally during Cinebench when fully loaded, but it seems to work well in other tasks. If I possessed an Asus B760 board, I’d check the BIOS for a switch to the early 0x104 microcode—many older models offered this, though it may no longer be available with recent updates. Employing the early 0x104 disables Intel Undervolt Protection. Since you have an unlocked K-series CPU, turning off UVP unlocks the ability to use ThrottleStop, which can lower the voltage for the core and cache by about -100 mV. This reduces power draw and heat output, helping your CPU run cooler and more efficiently during Cinebench. This adjustment isn’t suitable for everyone.
