Reduced GPU activity with increased CPU demand
I have an Rx 470 with 8 GB RAM and a Ryzen 5 2600. My system runs at low usage (around 30-40%) but only about 60%, and the CPU stays high (85-98%). FPS is also poor. I tried the ASUS optimal setting from the BIOS, which boosted performance but caused GPU usage to spike to 95-99% and instability. It then switched back to normal, but the same problems persist. Please share your specs.
low cpu usage often relates to ram issues. you should use two 3200mhz or higher sticks. about the pc crashing, verify if you enabled optimized default in bios. try removing the motherboard battery for 10 seconds to reset bios settings back to defaults. when installing new ram, make sure it matches the exact model. activating xmp or docp profiles in bios can boost ram speed significantly, especially with ryan zones.
I'll attempt to turn on DOCP, but the issue isn't related to low CPU usage. I'm encountering minimal GPU activity even with default settings.
Minimal GPU activity suggests the CPU struggles to keep up, since it's being halved for bandwidth reasons, plus only one stick of RAM is used.
