Hi. A few months back I received a valid, original Windows 10 Education key from my school. After losing it, I tried using the activation option linked to my Microsoft account, but it failed. Now I see multiple devices tied to my account, yet the system claims the version doesn’t match because I installed Windows 10 Education instead of Home. I’m wondering if there’s a way to switch to Windows 10 Home without needing a product key, especially since I don’t want to lose my data again.

Upgrades are available only in the higher editions. A serial number is necessary in both cases to enable activation. If that doesn’t work, you can purchase a gray market key for around ten dollars.

This is actually exactly where I got the key, haha. Except the thing is, I purchased (for free) the key about a year ago, and since it's been a while, they pull the bullshit about paying like $10 to see what your key is. It's crap. And I'm not wasting $10 to get a key that I already activated once before.
