Hello, welcome! I've been using Intel since Lucifer was in heaven. This is my first AMD CPU – a Ryzen 5 3600. Based on past experiences with Intel boards and systems, enabling the auto optimization usually works well. My aim is to have a durable, efficient processor that runs quietly. Can I achieve a lower peak Vcore (like around 1.26V) while maintaining good performance under load? During stress tests with CPU-Z, the temperature reached about 85°C, but the Vcore stayed at 1.306V when auto was on. • Does this relate to the load line calibration setting? What does a higher or lower value indicate? Thanks very much for your help!
It's getting very loud. I'm going to shut down the machine and rest tonight. Maybe I can catch up tomorrow. I don't want this fresh setup to repeat the mistakes of the old one—probably caused by a power surge from the main supply.
Test it and see. I'm skeptical. Vcore wasn't 1.306V, VID was. VID represents the voltage the CPU needs from the VRM. LLC deliberately exceeds this to handle voltage drops during heavy current use. Higher values make the drop more noticeable. This ensures a steadier supply for the CPU. (Without LLC, the actual voltage is highest when idle and lowest during full load. The reverse of what we want.)
I’m still trying to figure out what those AMD abbreviations mean. I left the voltage on Auto and boosted the fan settings a bit. The CPU performance improved slightly in CPU-z. I recently did a video conversion, which pushed the CPU temp up to 91°C—really hot! Since the room isn’t air-conditioned and the temperature climbs to about 30°C, I think the cooler I’m using isn’t enough. I’m considering swapping it for a Gamdias Boreas M1-610, a 6-pipe cooler with no gaps, which should cost around $27.50. That seems like a solid choice now. Thanks, svmlegacy!
