I've been attempting to enjoy Rise of the Tomb Raider, but a recurring problem was the game freezing after short play sessions (usually just a few minutes) and displaying an error like "A problem has occurred with your display driver...consider turning down your settings." While using my laptop, the performance seemed normal for its specs (around 900p at medium settings), achieving over 45 fps. Others suggested lowering the GPU clock speed as a solution, but I was already running at stock clocks and hadn’t experienced any issues before. After reducing the GPU to 900 MHz (with boost around 967 MHz in-game), I managed to play for more than an hour without crashes. TL;DR, anyone know how to run the game at normal speeds without problems? The frame rate isn’t terrible with the adjustment, but it definitely improves the overall experience.

ROTTR is quite strict about overclocking. There’s really nothing you can do.

They were failing at regular speeds, which is unusual for me.

GPUs tend to be heavily used, possibly due to a faulty component or an impending failure. It’s worth noting that some users report issues with overclocking settings starting to fail early.
