Red VGA signal, not displayed on screen
Initially, I checked the pinned discussions before sharing this issue. Last night, after turning off the machine, everything functioned properly except for the monitor, keyboard, and mouse which remained dark. After waiting 5-10 minutes, I had to power it down by pressing a button and going to sleep. It seemed normal during the day. Now, when I try to boot it up, it starts but I don’t see any monitor input. The keyboard and mouse are also unresponsive. I’ve tried various troubleshooting steps in this thread—my BIOS might have been reset. I pressed the reset button and removed the battery for 10 minutes. Without monitor input, it’s hard to say what’s wrong. My system specs are Windows 10 64 Bit Pro, MSI X470 Gaming Plus, Ryzen 7 2700X, eight-core CPU, Asus RX 6600. I also used an old R9 390 in the same machine for years without problems. It has 32 GB RAM (4 x 8 GB), Ripjaws V, DDR4 3200MHz, CL16, Corsair RM 850. The only odd thing was that AMD Auto-Detect attempted to install Pro edition drivers for the RX 6600—very strange. My friend with a different setup also faced similar driver update issues, so it might not be my PC specifically. My card seems to be working fine too.
I checked my PC before it shut down. I tried to artificially raise the temperature sensors to check for an overheating alert, hoping to confirm the system was running. It seems the issue might be related to software or drivers rather than hardware. Do you have another drive you'd like me to test?
Just before I was watching YouTube and chatting on Discord, things were pretty easy on the system. I’m not sure where my temperature sensors are or if there’s anything to warm them up. By the way, do you mean my boot disk? I don’t have anything else to use for heating it. All I did was disconnect all the SSDs and HDDs, boot with just the GPU, CPU, coolers, power supply, motherboard, and a monitor via HDMI. Still didn’t get any input.
Check the VGA illumination. It shouldn’t be lit unless briefly during startup. The processor indicator flashes occasionally, but the VGA light remains steady. A photo was taken, though visibility is poor due to camera quality, so a flash was necessary. It appears on the right, directly above the cables labeled "EZ Debug Led."
I've already tried everything you suggested. Thanks for your assistance! I'm planning to purchase a new replacement motherboard for the same hardware. If it functions properly, I'll continue using it; otherwise, I believe I should return the board and bring my PC to a specialist. I'm quite uneasy about modifying the motherboard, though I've handled all other components myself—I feel confident I can do it too.
I attempted it. They asked me to restart the system and retrieve some data before they could address my problem. This seems nearly unattainable because I can't even connect to either of my monitors. Earlier, their forums offered helpful advice, but my official support experience has been disappointing—especially since I couldn’t even open a ticket or help with MSI.
