I assembled a new PC recently. When I first powered it on, the POST screen and BIOS options disappeared entirely, not even the Windows boot logo. Only after a short delay did it suddenly display the Windows login screen, and everything functioned normally afterward. To access the BIOS for adjustments, I attempted to restart directly into UEFI from Windows, but the PC restarted and has remained stuck on a black screen, never returning to the login screen. After installing an MB-Speaker, I observed five short beeps at startup (CPU error – according to the website, though not specific to this model). I’m using new components alongside older ones: a new 11400F CPU, B560M Pro AORUS mainboard, Crucial Ballistix 3200 RAM (2x8GB), M2 Kingston A2000 SSD, and an OLD BeQuiet 500W power supply with 80+ Gold certification. RX11 290x graphics card and Samsung Evo 840 SSD are also installed. Despite many attempts over hours—using just one RAM stick, different monitors and cables, single SSD or no SSD at all—I haven’t seen any improvement. The old PSU and GPU in another system worked perfectly; CMOS was cleared. Please assist me.

Certainly there are issues with the CPU or incorrect CPU selection. It could also stem from a video card, cable, or monitor problem. Is the VGA indicator steady red or does it flash briefly then shut off? There might be a motherboard fault—preferring to skip hardware replacement. Possible causes include a disabled display or a corrupted BIOS. Are you sure this board supports flashing BIOS without a CPU? (Some models do, others don’t). If not, attempting to boot into BIOS by pressing the right key at startup might be an option. [delete] is often used but varies by system.

Unfortunately, Keyspam isn't going to work. I've used it many times and still can't figure out how to fix the BIOS without a CPU. The VGA red LED stays on continuously in this setup.

Update your device via QFLASH on the back I/O panel.

You can try installing the latest BIOS on the USB drive. Make sure you have the correct file type (FAT32) and that the USB is properly formatted before inserting it. If the screen remains black, check for any errors during installation or ensure the device is recognized by your system.

Review the instructions carefully. It seems the board is missing most components except power cables. Insert the USB into the appropriate port and an LED will show progress during BIOS updates. Unzip the file. Some guides mention a "renamer" tool—right-click and rename it to end with .rom for a flash. In certain models, renaming isn’t necessary. It really depends on your specific board and version. Feel free to explore further for your setup. You might also attempt flashing with the CPU installed, but I’m unsure if removing hardware is required given your existing issues.

Before proceeding, would it be wiser to return the MB+CPU because they’re brand new? At this stage, I’m only aiming to fix it, even if it means waiting a week. I’ve already moved the PSU to another PC to ensure it works tomorrow for work, so now I can stay patient.

It really comes down to your choices. I just offered you an option that saves you time. After all, you don’t have anything to lose right now.

I'll check what the seller says about returns and replacements. Then I'll think about trying it out. Thank you for your support, I'm really frustrated after switching PSU ten times between two units because my wife requires a functional PC for her job.

It seems like it was likely attempted before, but it wasn't discussed, and you can't be certain.
