Red light on the Gigabyte B450 Aorus Wi-Fi Pro motherboard (uncertain solution)
So I'm building my first ever gaming pc.. ordered everything that I can afford cheap till I save up for a better graphics card, got a cheap 210 for now till then and I'm using a ryzen 5500 cpu for my motherboard, and for the past 2 days re-wiring and moving stuff around.. it still comes on.. I have no display being able to show up as when I switch to the HDMI on the tv (temporarily using till I get actual montior) its black and then goes back to no signal... I even already took out the cpu, cleaned off the thermal, checked the pins to see if any were bent, none were so I put it back together and that.. CPU light still comes on and fans are all running, do have led lights but I have yet to figure out what those led wires hook up to... I might need to get a fan splitter for my system fans separate from the cooler ones for my cpu imo.. I did accidentally wire some LED wires and they got super hot real quick.. and uh might've short circuited the LEDS on my cpu cooler... so yeah that happened... pc noob me doing that... but I can still hear the pump working just fine. I planned to visit a store today but thought I’d try it at home first to check if there’s a fix. I was reviewing some BIOS information for this motherboard, thinking I might need a flash drive to download the BIOS onto my laptop. Unless a local shop offers a specific method, I’m not sure how to do it myself at home.
They’re more likely you have an older AM4 CPU available for use. If you can access a 2xxx or 3xxx processor, you can update the BIOS yourself. Just ensure you can boot into BIOS to perform the update. See the links for guidance: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B45...-dl-driver and https://global.aorus.com/blog/How-to-Upd...Part-2.php You’ll need an AM4 compatible CPU to carry out the update. A USB connection on your laptop can also help.
Quick update: I contacted Asurion Tech Repair/Support and the nearby shop, but they mentioned they don<|pad|> to handle BIOS updates for my Ryzen 5500. I’m not sure if any other local places can do this. :l... Maybe I need to get a slightly older CPU that fits my board and flash the BIOS myself to update it. He also said I can’t do this on my laptop since laptop and desktop BIOS are very different.
Looking for the most affordable AM4 CPU that boots into BIOS, I’m considering an AMD Athlon 3000G Picasso (Zen+) at around 3.5GHz with Vega 3 graphics. The listings suggest it’s around F60, and some sources mention AMD support for BIOS boot assistance. You might reach out to AMD directly for a boot kit, but be prepared to return it once testing is done.
Picasso is actually on F40, not F60. F60 is for the Raven Ridge 3000g. That BIOS has been out for 3+ years now. No reason it shouldn't work. If you have more patience you can try that. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100 As long as they still are doing that, you're eligible. 5500 is Zen 3 Ryzen and you are on a B450 motherboard.
