I changed my graphics card drivers today since my game needed it (Space Marine 2). Now my PC randomly shuts down the monitor and displays a red light on the 8pin GPU power. I switched to another cable and tried using the built-in graphics, but the monitor still won’t reconnect. My only fix is to turn off the system, disconnect the power cable, let it sit for five minutes to drain any reserve power, then restart. After that, the red light vanished and the monitor worked again. When I try to launch the game, I get an error saying the driver isn’t installed. I clicked to reinstall, but it just says “repair.” This only happens when launching the game, otherwise everything works fine. What’s going on? Is the issue with my power supply or GPU?

Switch to 8pin cables when you have separate 8pins; otherwise, test a different PSU. A red light typically indicates low power or contaminated electricity.

Replace the 8-pin power cable from your PSU as recommended by @Tech Reprise. Update your drivers and then reinstall them.

It appeared to be effective. Your feedback is appreciated. It seems the device lost sufficient power unexpectedly after two years. I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days. Appreciate your support.

It might be due to the PSU deteriorating over time.

May result from a less powerful power supply unit or corroded connectors due to time. The biggest chance lies in oxidation and wear on the cable.
