I'm unsure about the optimization of RDR2 on this setup. Will an i5-6400 with 8GB RAM and a GTX1070 Ti 8GB run smoothly without stutters? I understand the GPU is decent, but I'm not sure if the CPU and memory will keep up.

particularly the 8GB memory is limited, the CPU might still function but not optimally. Check if you can obtain the 6700/7700 (k) at a lower cost, or look for a BIOS update for your motherboard if possible. If these options are too costly, think about using a 3600 and b450 motherboard instead.

Don't pre-order it. Get it only when it's released and test its performance. If it doesn't work, you can get a refund. You'll likely run out of enough RAM.

The 8GB system RAM isn't sufficient nowadays.

Thanks to everyone, I appreciate the fast replies. At the moment I don’t have enough RAM or a new CPU, but could my existing setup maintain at least 30 frames per second?

I'm sure experimenting with the settings will give you a great and enjoyable experience. Don't expect everything to be perfect.

I'm not trying to sound pretentious, just want to enjoy the story without interruptions... And thanks!
Another small question, when upgrading my MO and RAM, should I add another 8GB stick at 2133MHz or discard that one and get 16GBs with a higher frequency? (my current MO can't handle more than 2133MHz, it's pretty bad.)

When you upgrade your MB, ensure it has a higher clock speed RAM. However, confirm it matches the exact 2x8 GB configuration and place the thermal paste in slots 1+3 or 2+4.

I almost match your specifications except for the fact that my 1070 isn't a Ti. Adding one stick of 8GB 2133 RAM to your current PC, tweaking the graphics in RDR2 and finishing the setup, would be ideal. Your motherboard is decent but aging; with 16GB of RAM it won’t cause stutters. This upgrade is the best I’ve ever invested in for my system. As long as you manage the CPU bottleneck through custom settings, smooth gameplay should be possible—expect around 30 fps, and likely even higher than 60. Only titles like Assassins Creed Origins/Odyssey can really test an i5.
