I purchased ETS2 roughly two weeks back during a discount period and am really hooked. Most of my initial spending went into buying and improving my truck, and I've only recently started expanding to upgrades like garages and driver training. I have some doubts about this. I've looked at a few old discussions but still need clarity. Appreciate your time if you can help.

1. Placing garages in various EU locations does seem to improve driver efficiency—like a driver traveling from Rotterdam to Austria would save time by stopping in Austria instead of returning all the way.
2. There are many differing views on enhancing driver skills; one approach could be long-distance driving, followed by ADR training, then another method excluding Eco.
3. Should I aim for as many garages as possible to enable quick travel to high-value positions, or invest in thorough upgrades first?
4. Do truck modifications boost driver productivity?
5. Off topic: a more aerodynamic cab and a 6x4 chassis might also offer benefits—though I'm not sure yet.

Thanks for taking the time!

I usually complete my drivers' training in three stages of long-distance first, then one stage per other category, followed by full long-distance, and finally I begin filling in the remaining sections. 4. According to what I understand, truck upgrades don't affect driver productivity.

1. Nothing specific on my mind.
2. Usually I prefer high-value options, covering long distances, eco-friendly choices, and then fill the rest in any order.
3. More garages would suit me, but be careful not to spend everything on them—accidents happen, and a single wrong AI maneuver can turn a good trip into a loss.
4. Not familiar with that.
5. About the cab, if you have a 6x4 or one of the other three axle chassis, it might give better grip and make corners more stable, though it uses less fuel. Personally, I’d go with a 4x2. A bigger tank is easier to manage, and the three-chassis setup only slightly improves stability unless you plan sharp turns or carry trailers.

Exploring the impact of multiple garages across the EU on driver efficiency is intriguing. For instance, if a driver travels from Rotterdam to Austria, they might stop at the Austrian garage instead of returning all the way. The situation remains uncertain, but opinions vary widely on improving employee driving abilities. Some suggest long-distance trips, followed by ADR, and then other certifications, excluding Eco. Another perspective focuses on enhancing long-distance driving skills first, then adding ADR, and finally opting for high-value routes. It’s unclear whether securing more garages accelerates travel to premium jobs or if investing in each garage upfront yields better results.

Upgrading driver skills through longer trips could be beneficial, but the focus should be on quality rather than quantity. The idea of maximizing garage availability might aid quick access to high-value assignments, whereas thorough upgrades per garage could offer more lasting advantages.

Cab design appears to have minimal influence on productivity. While a more aerodynamic cab and a 6x4 chassis are often debated, their actual impact on driving performance is limited. The 6x2 model tends to handle high speeds better, whereas the 6x4 offers improved stability at higher speeds but may sacrifice some agility. Fuel efficiency could be affected by the chassis choice, though this remains uncertain.

I need to consider the improvements carefully. Long-distance seems appealing because drivers earn more per kilometer, and ADR appears to double earnings per trip while creating additional opportunities. ADR is also expected to be high-value, with JIT or fragile elements adding extra benefits. I'm uncertain about how far to push long-distance before joining others, as progression slows over time.

Thank you! I share your concern about the garage setup not functioning properly, especially since drivers remain tied to one garage. I haven’t found any discussions on Steam addressing this issue. It seems upgrading might be more about appearance than performance. I’d really like to see ETS3 or similar systems where these details matter. Adding a 65,000 EUR Globetrotter XL in real life would likely improve fuel efficiency and trailer stability.
