Recovery W10 malfunctioned and entered a loop.
I encountered an SSL certificate problem on my laptop, preventing access to certain websites. After performing a system recovery via MSI, I didn’t create a recovery media, which was a mistake. I got stuck during the recovery process and had to perform a hard reset. When I turned it back on, I was trapped in the MSI logo loop. Currently, I’m downloading the Windows installation tool image to ensure I don’t repeat any errors. Thanks for your help with the BIOS screenshot—I appreciate it!
Your system defaults to "USB Hard Disk" because it’s the most common storage device connected. It suggests the machine is attempting to load from an external drive, which could be a backup, additional storage, or a different operating system setup.
Checked the BIOS settings and confirmed the configuration: Windows Boot Manager, internal CD/DVD, and Western Digital 2TB backup HDD. Two external drives are present but only used during backups, so they don’t appear in the BIOS. Network booting is disabled. Try adjusting the BIOS settings to match the listed options; it might resolve the issue. The machine also boots from Windows Media Creation Tool, but it doesn’t show up in BIOS—possibly related to the firmware section. Good luck!
Thanks for going through the BIOS setup with me. I'm happy to confirm the boot type and that it's set up correctly. Fast Boot is enabled, and I'm ready to proceed once the media creation tool is available.
Feel free to verify the BIOS settings, just to confirm you received accurate information. Fast Boot is enabled on my system, but I’d keep it off until everything functions properly. My machine is configured for UEFI, and I’m happy to assist.
