Hi,
I see you're using an RTX 3080, an i7-10700, and 16GB RAM. You're trying to record GTA V at 1080p 60fps but are experiencing encoding lag and skipped frames. Since you're concerned about performance, you might want to consider upgrading your components to ensure smooth operation.

Use GeForce experience or OBS with the encoder set to nvenc of qsv when the iGPU is enabled, and adjust OBS priority to the highest level.
GTA V consumes many resources, running it at high settings drains performance significantly. Using the CPU for recording adds extra strain. Windows may lag, and it often lacks clear guidance on achieving smooth recordings, focusing only on keeping the game running.

I didn't know anything special about it, but when I tested the recording, it was clearly improved by using a different SSD than the one running the game. I ended up using an old 250gb SSD that I had on hand.

You have the game loaded on one drive and are recording to another drive? This is about a must!

Yep. I attempted to run the game on the SSD and then record it to the HDD, but no improvement. Still experiencing frame skips. I've also tried the reverse—running it on the HDD and recording to the SSD—and it's still not fully resolving the issue.

Yeah, unfortunately I've already tried everything. It doesn't seem to help much. I've used OBS and Shadowplay, but no improvement. The skipping frames only work until I drop to around 480p, which is really disappointing.

I've used both Shadowplay and OBS for testing.
