Recommended power supply options within a $100 budget.
Hello,
I just upgraded my PC but I’m still using the power supply from my old setup (i5-6600k/GTX 1070Ti).
Corsair CX650M 650W
I’m not sure if I can find a reliable PSU under 100$ that will fit my new configuration, especially since reputable options are already priced higher.
My current build includes:
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-Plus
- CPU: Intel Core i5 12600k with DeepCool AK620
- RAM: 2x16GB G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5-6000
- GPU: PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX6750XT
- PSU: Corsair CX650M 650W
- Case: NZXT H5 Flow with various fans and slots
I plan to stay with this for about five years, playing at 1080p or possibly 1440p. I’d like to upgrade the graphics card a bit but want to wait until I get a new power supply.
I read that ATX3.0 compatibility is crucial these days, so I found something for 99.99$ on Amazon:
Do you think this would be a good value for the price? I already own many ASUS ROG/TUF components (keyboard, mouse, monitor, fans, etc.) and they seem to be of decent quality. 👍🏻
They have enhanced their performance and reliability over time. Their warranty policies are reliable and well-structured.
There are brands with both good and poor units, including Corsair, SS, and EVGA. You don't decide based on the brand but on the model. De Cooler Master and Thermaltake I recommended are top-tier options with a 10-year warranty. For reviews, check the links provided.
This would be my exclusive choice just a bit above your budget: PCPartPicker Part List Power Supply: Corsair RM750x (2021) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($119.99 @ Newegg) Total: $119.99 Costs cover shipping, taxes, and any available discounts Created by PCPartPicker 2023-09-30 02:52 EDT-0400 Here is a summary of the unit: Review: Corsair RM750x (2021) Power Supply Evaluation The Corsair RM750x (2021) leads in performance rankings. I discovered a match within your price range: PCPartPicker Part List Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS Plus 750 Gold 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.94 @ Newegg) Total: $99.94 Expenses include shipping, taxes, and applicable discounts Generated by PCPartPicker 2023-09-30 02:56 EDT-0400 Review: Seasonic Focus Plus 750 Gold PSU Evaluation Seasonic's flagship power supplies are top-tier. Yet, the most popular among buyers is the FOCUS line. The FOCUS Plus 750 Gold ranks as the second strongest in capacity and offers solid value.
Thank you all! I’ll check reviews to find the best match for me. I wasn’t expecting such a wide selection in this price range, so I’ll focus on details like dB, cables, etc., from the options you recommended. Also, what’s the main difference between the Corsair RM750x and RM750e? I can see the second model for $100 while the first costs $120.
ReMe operates on a completely different platform with reduced overall quality, a low-quality fan featuring an annoying fannoise, and the 2023 model is ATX3.0 whereas the RM750x does not match this standard. People generally prefer Cooler Master Vi Gold over RMe and RMx since it performs better. Focus Plus Gold is outdated, has stopped working, and suffers from ripple problems.
