You're looking for a 48-port PoE switch supporting 10Gbps with multiple SFP ports. You're upgrading from an older 1GbE Cisco device and need something capable of handling around 100–200 devices, running 3 VLANs with /24 or /23 subnets. There are occasional latency problems on some clients, and you suspect the switch might be the bottleneck. Your existing firewall (Sonicwall NSA 2600) is performing well, but you're concerned about throughput under heavy load. You also want to add 10GbE access for some Synology NAS devices. The budget is roughly $3500.

What power requirements do you require? Are all ports compatible with PoE? Which management approach suits you best? Do you need a serial connection? Take a look at the Dell X1052P.

Thanks ? I don't really need serial as long as there is a management port. Well I guess not all would need to be PoE, if half we're PoE that would be fine. I am currently using 10 PoE ports as of now

What power level was required for the POE connections? Were you connecting phones and needing a signal path from the phone to the client's computer?

What power consumption do your equipment require? Check the specifications for a few models to estimate average and peak usage, then calculate based on how many devices are using POE. I don’t see any switches offering both 10Gb and POE ports, and there aren’t any known POE units with 10GB capacity yet. Right now, the focus is on APs supporting 802.3bz 2.5Gb/5Gb speeds; the only vendor I’m aware of with this capability is Ruckus. Their latest lineup includes 8x 10Gb ports and sufficient POE power, though prices are well above your $3500 target. If you’re a committed Ruckus user, you might get a discount when upgrading to R720 models at the same time. I’m aware my employer usually buys Ruckus products at less than three times the retail rate. For 44-48 1Gb POE+ ports and four 10Gb ports, consider the HP 2930M or 2930F series—available for $1000–$1500 on the market.

Face challenges finding a 10GBase-T switch with POE support. I’m unsure if any exist with 10GBASE-T RJ45. I experienced this issue when using a Cisco 3560X with a 48-port 1G POE setup that handled all cameras and access points. Recently switched to an Arista 7050T-52, which supports 10GBASE-T. A 1G-capable POE midspan might work better since POE devices typically only negotiate up to 1G. For a switch upgrade to 10G, you’ll need to replace all network interfaces and possibly the cabling. Cat5e can handle 10G over short distances, but reliability drops after 15 meters, so Cat6A or higher is ideal.

I could locate only a few options that fit your needs. The Huawei products mentioned include the S6720-32C-PWH-SI and its 48-port counterpart S6720-52X-PWH-SI supporting 10G PoE, PoE+, and PoE++. Other mentions are from Catalyst models like the 3850-12X48U and 9300 series, which offer higher speeds but are pricier or not yet available in 48-port form. Most sources indicate limited affordable mGig PoE solutions exist.

Yea, I couldn't find anything to do the job on 10GBase-T connectivity, nothing currently seems to have support for 10G and POE which is a bit odd as im sure the spec allows for it when negotiated at 1G. Love Arista kit it makes administration a breeze compared with Cisco

It seems POE+ with 10Gb on 48 ports could easily exceed 1500W peak, possibly reaching 2000W. Using 48 ports of such switches might strain your POE budget—like the HP/Aruba 2930F-48G-POE+ which has 1050W power supplies.
