Hey there, I've faced some problems with ASUS motherboards recently and am considering switching to another brand. What I need is: -ATX or E-ATX, 2 ARGB ports, strong power delivery for the 7950X (I already have the CPU), at least two M.2 slots Gen 5 and two Gen 4, plus shielded PCI-E 5 x16. Thanks!

Are you looking for a specific reason to use the X670E? Many people ask this, but most don’t actually need it. There’s a misunderstanding about its benefits for performance or overclocking, which isn’t accurate.

Sure, the B650E typically shares most components with the 7800X3D and works well in that setup.

Just take it out of the way—the only B650 board I can see with 2x Gen5 M.2 and 2x Gen4 M.2 is the Asus ROG STRIX B650E-E WIFI, so it seems you really have no choice there.

Only four X670 boards fit your precise specs for ASUS, M.2 and A-RGB ports: Gigabyte X670E, AORUS XTREME, MSI X670E, and MPG X670E. Each version differs slightly in features like watercooling.

It’s unusual to rely on A-RGB for buying choices when RGB controllers are available. You’d likely only need PCIe 5 for a couple of M.2 and x16 slots, especially if you’re planning long-term use with high-end GPUs. PCIe 4 should suffice for most setups, and games haven’t yet demanded NVMe speeds in AM5. Even if an AM5 board lasts through several CPU generations, it might not justify the cost difference compared to a simpler board. New features on upcoming chipsets could be missed just for keeping the board unchanged.

However, on the positive side, it was simple because only three boards met the requirements.

Certainly they match the price of a B650E plus CPU and cooler. I’m curious about why we’d use the 7950X here, since the 7800X3D is a stronger gaming CPU. Who cares about RGB on a production setup? I’m puzzled.

I've been running the MSI X670E Carbon Wi-Fi with my 7950X3D ever since it came out. It's been a solid board. The only downside is that MSI tends to be slow when it comes to releasing BIOS updates.

The issue stems from needing two ARGB controllers with separate ports. The X670E isn't essential, but the design appeals to me for a cleaner look. As a Network Engineer with programming experience, consistent performance matters, which is why I own the 7950X. I prefer off-brand RGB controllers to ensure seamless synchronization and compatibility across different motherboard makers. I have two Gen 5 drives and two Gen 4 drives, so maintaining speed is crucial if I stick to Gen 4. Appreciate the motherboard suggestions.
