Well... that doesn't quite fit. Check the manual's block diagram. Ryzen includes a single PCIe Gen4.0 4x M.2 slot that connects straight to the CPU for those lanes. The remaining two slots use a split PCIe connection with the 16x Gen4 slot for your GPU. This means inserting anything into M2B or M2C will cause the GPU interface to fall back to PCIe 8x (Gen3/4 depending on the card). The X570 supports Gen4 and can add those M.2 slots, while the B550 is limited to Gen3. This isn't a major concern since most NVMe drives don't need Gen4 for the majority of users. You'll likely pay extra for the X570's added features, especially with its tiny fan that can be hard to replace. In water-cooled builds you might notice the higher-pitched fan noise from the chipset. Also, the X570 lacks an onboard USB 3.2 via Key-A for faster USB Type-C, making it less ideal for mainstream gaming or streaming setups.

Apparently has that USB 3.1 gen2 / USB 3.2 gen2 (they renamed USB 3.1 gen 2 to USB 3.2 gen 2 for some reason and slapped the Key-A connector to it which should not be confused with a Type A connector - and people thought AMD, NVIDIA and Intel would make a mess with naming things) Key A connector on board - and a fan. If I were to choose a B550 ATX board for Ryzen 7 I'd go for one of the following, all have a USB Key-A header, all have at least 8 true phases, all have WiFi+BT, all have BIOS Flashback (price range around US$/EUR 160-280, sorted cheapest to expensive): Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 (cheapest, but also "weakest" VRM, yet fully capabale of pushing Ryzen 7 and to some extent also Ryzen 9 12core, but for Ryzen 9 I'd go for a bigger board still) MSI MPG B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi (better VRM, has an internal Clear-CMOS button) ASUS ROG Strix B550-E Gaming (no Clear-CMOS but comes with a thermal sensor header - great for custom water cooling if you don't want to have a full pump/fan controller, very strong CPU VRM design but due to 7+1 design weaker SoC VRM but the mosfet is plenty strong and they are doubled) ASRock B550 Taichi (bumps the price point a bit, adds internal and external buttons for clear CMOS + internal power, weaker VRM design as the ASUS B550-E though due to weaker mosfets, also weird optics) MSI MEG B550 Unify (bonkersly beefy VRMs with 90A mosfets and a true 14+2 layout, internal power + reset, external Clear-CMOS) The ones I'd choose would probably be the MSI MPG B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi, ASUS ROG Strix B550-E or MSI MEG B550 Unify. Imho there's little reason to go with X570
