I need to evaluate that program as well.
I don’t mind the file format, I’m used to ISO files.
I only have one USB drive, but it’s necessary for moving files to my CNC machines... I’d have to buy another, but I’d rather save the image on a second drive and boot from a CD. That way each PC can store its own copy, and I can use the same boot CD for all computers.
It stores images in its own format.
I manage all my house systems and each physical drive separately, saving them to a folder structure on my NAS.
Each system and drive operates independently, adjusting according to requirements.
My main system receives an incremental image nightly, with each drive updated individually.
The single drive in my spouse’s system gets a full image every other day, maintaining a rolling 2-week archive.
Yes, I’ve needed to use an image for recovery—either due to a complete drive failure or malicious software.
Macrium (believing it still offers a free version for personal use). Additionally, a NAS is needed so your backup isn't stored on the same machine (to prevent OS and app issues that might lead to corruption). I continue to use spinners for backups in RAID 1.

The free level of Macrium went away a few months ago.
Same with its competitors.
There is supposedly still a free one out there somewhere. But the Free version, even when viable from Macrium, lacked the Incremental Images. Only Full and Differential.
There is a 30 day trial, though.
It was a disappointment. I opted for the paid version. It's completely justified.
