I'm still using my Lenovo ThinkPad X220, which has 16gb DDR3 and a 500gb SSD. Honestly, I still love it today—it's my reliable workhorse.
I'm planning an upgrade to something that is:
Compact or medium-sized.
Has a decent GPU.
Includes HDMI and USB-C (which is important).
Preferably with at least 32gb RAM, though 16gb is fine.
Supports both AMD and Intel processors.
The main purpose will be for Visual Studio and general computing tasks.
Secondary use will be gaming, needing to run most games smoothly.
I really like the appearance of this device, staying true to the Lenovo brand... you know.

Well, in short, you can almost get the newest CPU lineup from AMD. Their naming system is a bit confusing, but the 7535HS is actually older than the 7840HS or 8840HS—those are more recent models from 2024 instead of 2023.
At around 32GB of RAM, finding that price is quite challenging.
Lenovo LOQ

It was available for $699 at BestBuy recently, but it only had 8GB of memory and no available slot.
Still, the 7840HS, 7940HS, 8840HS, and 8940HS are the current AMD options to consider.
