Recommendation for USB-C based KVM
Recommendation for USB-C based KVM
I've used two distinct KVMs from Amazon, but neither worked well. Each model included four USB-C ports—two for power delivery and two for connecting devices. There was an HDMI output and three to four USB-A ports for peripherals. My PCs ran smoothly with both, and video transmission was uninterrupted. I could switch between them easily, though the USB-A connections had problems with the keyboard and mouse. One KVM hub completely failed, and the other only connected device one at a time without switching. Anyone have experience with such a setup?
did you connect an external hdd to the usb-a as well, or was it just the mouse and keyboard?
I tried various keyboards and mice. Checked if something similar to wireless earbuds could charge me. The AOOCOO one gave nothing. I tested all four ports, and each time a delivery arrived.
I've noticed Startech, Aten, Dell, HP, and Lenovo as dependable KVM brands to consider. Others might be viable but lack proper support. They offer updates if issues arise with their products, though they tend to be more expensive.
The AOOCOO has been mentioned by several Amazon buyers who reported that the USB3 port isn't functioning well.
Have you used the delivered USB C cables with your PCs? You may eventually need to power the KVM externally using a USB-C charger.
Which computers are you using? Please specify the brand and exact model.
have you looked at your laptops' USB-C ports? what kinds are there? they should support at least a thunder 3/4 usb-c standard to handle both video and controls, or it would be easy to share more details.
