Hello friends, my keyboard stopped working recently. It was an Apex Pro TKL model from a while back, and I'm considering a replacement. Since I'm disabled, I can't afford to spend a lot at once, so I'm checking Amazon with my Amazon card.
I noticed they have the Apex Pro hypermagnetic keyboard, as well as the Asus Rog and others. I’m not sure what those are, but I’m open to suggestions. I was hoping for something with a creamy feel rather than tactile, but I don’t know much about those options. Keychron is recommended, though I’m not sure if it’s wireless or suitable for gaming or typing.
I was thinking about getting a wooting 60 keyboard, but I can’t afford $200 right now and there’s a wait time. They don’t sell them on Amazon. I’m mainly looking for something that works well with games like Cod, Wow, Elden Ring, and GTA 6, etc. I don’t type emails or use the PC for work. They’re having Prime Day, so many deals are available, and I’d like to get something today.
I need a keyboard that’s easy to swap out, but not essential. My first question is whether the Logitech Superlite is better than the Superlight 1—Superlight 1 is $100 and Superlight 1 is $140, plus an extra $40. I’m not sure if that makes it worth it.
Lastly, I don’t have an XLR or a microphone amplifier. I still use my old Fife K669 mic, which sounds terrible most of the time. I’m hoping for something better, but I’m not sure what to choose—USB or XLR would be nice, but I’m not sure if they’re worth the investment. This K669 seems like it might sound like a tin can.
I would accumulate savings and invest in the Wooting options you mentioned, because from my perspective it looks like you're likely to stay connected with that peripheral for your gaming projects. In 2024, I'd steer clear of Logitech due to their high price for basic plastic casings. You might consider Keychron's selection, but it would be similar to the Wooting HE category. IMHO, avoid spending on XLR/amp/mic/audio gear and focus first on a budget keyboard, then gradually upgrade your audio setup. This approach lets you complete parts of your setup in manageable steps.
You're unsure about the Logitech superlite mouse you're considering. I understand you have the Superlight v1, which has a 2024 update, but the left buttons are not working properly due to interference from your nephew's actions. The waiting time for updates is also an issue. You're looking for something affordable and quick to get, preferably in a day or two. Your headset is an IEM, which you mentioned was a gift.
Keychron offers some appealing mechanical keyboards.
I’m pleased with my Patriot Viper V765. The main drawback is it isn’t hot-swappable, but that doesn’t bother me. It’s durable, water and dust resistant, full-size, and features solid black keys. It includes a volume jog dial, which is a nice touch but not overly exciting.
I only use RGB for backlighting, though you can customize colors in Windows-only software.
If you can, check out a computer store to test different clicky keyboards.
