Recently upgraded my CPU's overclocking settings, yet performance remains unstable during idle periods.
Hi everyone! I've recently increased my CPU's clock speed to 5GHz and am facing an issue:
When the PC is idle or doing light tasks like browsing, the core multiplier keeps fluctuating, causing the core speed to vary constantly—from 0.9GHz up to 3.2GHz and back down to 1.3GHz.
When I load the CPU with a demanding game such as Call of Duty: Warzone, the speed stabilizes around 4.8GHz (AVX offset set to 2 helps).
Can this idle speed instability be resolved?
Thanks!
It appears the issue is connected to the power saving settings. With high performance enabled, the processor stays at 3.5GHz even though it uses nearly 97% of its capacity, so under heavy load it doesn’t overclock to 5GHz. But with balanced power options, the behavior changes: during idle it fluctuates between 0.8GHz and 4Ghz, yet when a load is applied it overclocks to 5Ghz.
