I have a motherboard from THIS system with a F65 BIOS (supporting Zen 3), powered by a 650W PSU running Windows 10, version 3060 TI FE. It was a minor upgrade from the 1800x model and ran smoothly without any issues. After installing the CPU I had been preparing for months, I reset the BIOS to default settings. I tested Cinebench and got a disappointing score, with the reported frequency capping at 2.15GHz. My temperatures stayed below 50°C according to HWinfo. When I tried overclocking in BIOS, it reached 4.4GHz per core without problems. The Cinebench improved to around 1900, which is expected. However, I’m not keen on pushing the overclock due to high electricity costs in the UK—bills are up 60% year-on-year. I’m considering lowering power consumption by switching to an ECO mode at 45W or adjusting voltage settings to save energy, rather than increasing power draw. Every time I revert to auto, the system stalls at 2.15GHz. In Task Manager the base clock shows 3.7GHz but it never reaches it, even during Cinebench stress tests. I just want a standard boost without an all-core overclock. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
If it isn’t functioning properly, making small adjustments won’t significantly reduce your electricity costs unless you use the device at full capacity all the time.
