I just installed the newest update and noticed the search feature in the settings menu isn't functioning. Anyone else experience this? Or is there another issue? I also recall that updates sometimes alter privacy settings without warning, which seems to have happened this time. I use Spybot Anti-Beacon to prevent Windows telemetry, and everything was blocked properly. After the update, the "Consumer Experience Improvement Program" was reactivated. Just letting you know if anyone is interested. I simply re-blocked everything again, so it's fine, though I still find it a bit sneaky.

I believed someone mentioned that turning off or blocking Cortana would stop the search feature

Adjust the settings to restore the old Windows Search Bar from Win7, which remains in Windows 10. You can modify the registry to achieve this. Installing Classic Shell will bring back the classic start menu automatically. Cortana has been disabled and its directory renamed to prevent it from restarting, so everything is functioning properly now.

Am I the sole one who doesn't disable every MS Telemetry and maintains Cortona on? Cortona instances are permitted. Updated November 18, 2017 by Ryois

The Windows 10 search bar functions perfectly for me. It's located in the settings menu, even when Cortana is disabled. It wasn't a major issue but something I observed after the update. UPDATE: Now it operates correctly (after nearly 2 hours). Previously, it didn't work even after a restart. Probably just needed some time. Edited November 18, 2017 by LaLiLuLeLo Fixed
