It seems the issue might be related to your Skyrim installation or a mod in Nexus Mods. Have you checked for updates or looked into community suggestions for fixes?
you're asking about the version of Skyrim you're referring to. It sounds like you're thinking of a heavily modified version, possibly with many custom changes. There are several mods available that can enhance or alter the game, and some require additional ones to function properly. The "legendary edition" is a popular unofficial patch mod collection that combines multiple modifications into one file.
The number three isn't meant to be there. Yeah, I checked the Legendary Edition patch and will take a closer look. My game is unmodified.
You're facing your initial issue, but it seems you're missing the Skyrim Unofficial Legendary update. I recommend checking out Mod Organizer and configuring it properly, along with setting up SKSE, SkyUI, and of course the unofficial patch. This update resolves many common problems in the game. For guidance, Gopher has a helpful video series on installing Mod Organizer. You can also change the title of your discussion by clicking the edit button (pencil) on the first post here.
I interact with a controller, so I won't require SkyUI. It's not clear what you mean by SKSE, but thank you!
remember the "unofficial Skyrim Patch Legendary Edition" mod isn't related to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition. It means you need all three DLCs for the mod to function properly, so you can access them individually or play Skyrim Legendary Edition without them. If you already own one or two of these mods, check each one separately. For specific patches, unofficial versions work regardless of DLC presence (since they don’t affect DLC compatibility). Also, if you have the DLC, the unofficial Dawnguard patch is available, and for Hearthfire, there’s a separate patch for that content.
If you still wish to add more mods, this one is worth checking out: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29440/? It adds the SkyUI system without changing its original interface (keeping the classic look). You’ll notice it includes a useful configuration tool for SkyUI, which many larger mods depend on. EDIT: I phrased it a bit differently, this version strips away SkyUI’s visual changes so the standard UI remains intact. It doesn’t add new features, just removes the UI overlay.
