Hey everyone, I just assembled a new PC with an i7-14700KF, RTX 4070 Ti Super, ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming Wifi II, Corsair DDR5 2x24 GB 7200 MT/S, H150i 360mm AIO, and RM1000X PSU. I'm running Windows 10 version 10.0.19045. I've been playing games with friends all night, but keep freezing and crashing after just a few minutes. I haven't seen any BSODs, but the games stop abruptly. My best session lasted about ten minutes without a crash. I've tried updating the graphics driver, flashed the BIOS to version 1202, set my DDR5 to the stock 7200 MT/s (instead of the default 4000), disabled XMP, and turned off ASUS MultiCore Enhancement. In Event Viewer, I noticed a game crash error about 10 minutes before the last incident: the GameInput Service couldn't register with DCOM, and it terminated unexpectedly six times. That’s puzzling, especially compared to my older build with a 6700K and GTX 1080 which ran much smoother. Any suggestions?
Two potential scenarios exist. One possibility is that 7200 exceeds your CPU's capabilities, with certain low-end processors lacking the necessary IMC. Compare against standard JEDEC benchmarks to assess. Another issue involves 13th and 14th generation i7/i9 models experiencing problems in specific games, especially Unreal Engine titles, mirroring your concerns. Solutions may include adjusting power limits (though WCCF claims this might not work for some), raising the AC load line, applying a positive voltage offset, or reducing the CPU multiplier.
It looks like adjusting your RAM to AUTO helped, and you're currently playing for about an hour without issues. You might be able to increase the speed to 7200, but it depends on your system's capabilities. Let me know if you need more details! Thanks for the tip!
