I managed, but it still ended. The GPU didn’t crank up its fans as loudly this time, which feels more typical. I’ve included the CBS log here.
It seems the issue is fixed! I investigated further, installed MSI Center, updated the BIOS and relevant drivers from the scan results. Also confirmed I had the proper chipset drivers from MSI's site for my MOBO. Restarted the PC using the BIOS/Driver update and launched the game again. It ran smoothly at 720p, then improved to 1440p on Ultra without any crashes. Great job!
This seems to be another problem you're facing, the same one I'm dealing with. You have the 13900k Strix 4090 Thor 1200 and several other good games, but you haven't tried DISM /Online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. There are many games that keep crashing when trying to launch, though I can still play most of them. I suspect whatever your issue is, it might be the same one you're experiencing. If I find a solution, I'll let you know and maybe you could reach out if you beat me first. It really drives me crazy when you keep trying without success, especially after all the effort you've put in.
I believe I resolved the issue. I updated my BIOS and a few drivers I had overlooked, allowing me to play games flawlessly. I'm still testing with a couple of other titles, though my experience has been positive so far—just BF2042. I own an MSI motherboard, used MSI Center to perform a comprehensive scan, which identified two outdated drivers and a new BIOS version. I also checked the site for my motherboard and confirmed that my chipset drivers were current.
