Recent update, MOBO settings missing, memory and graphics issues?
Hey everyone, we just started this build and everything seems to be working except for the MOBO power supply. Only the RGB lights come on above the shield. All other components—fans, GPU, RAM, etc.—are not functioning. I checked the PSU and it powers everything with a jumper, so fans and pumps are fine. The error code on the MOBO doesn’t even boot, which makes me think the cable connection might be wrong. I noticed the PSU has specific ports for CPU and GPU power, but this one only has 4-pin connectors. Also, I haven’t connected any fans to the CPU fan header since I’m using a non-AIO water cooler. Any suggestions on what could be causing this issue?
I don’t have that information. Could you clarify which cables you’re referring to and where they connect on your PSU?
Two 8-pin cables connect the GPU to its slots in the PSU. One 8-pin runs from the CPU to the CPU slot, another 4-pin goes to the 6-pin peripheral. Long runs require 30cm extensions. I attached a photo of the setup. EDIT: The picture suggests an 8-pin might be convertible to two 4-pins—could that be the problem?
It seems the system has a 4+4 CPU configuration. This suggests it might be designed to be divided into two 4-pin sections if needed. Your motherboard and overall setup are quite old, but your motherboard has an 8-pin and a 24-pin slot for the mainboard (ASRock H97M). For the GPU (GTX 760), you have an 8-pin and a 6-pin connection.
I just spoke to a PC shop and they warned me that what I was doing might damage the motherboard or CPU. I’ll have to wait a few hours until I finish work to check if it happened. Ugh, assembling PCs is such a thrill!
Updated: Uncertain if I should mention this, but I was using jumper to continuously test my water loop, so I just linked power to the pumps with a PSU switch flick. The real issue wasn’t turning on the PC from the case switch. Problem fixed. Apologies for the oversight.
