I’m facing an unusual issue I’ve never seen before. I’ve recently started playing Warhammer II, Three Kingdoms, and Atilla again. These games have always worked perfectly for me. The only change is the time gap between sessions and possibly some Windows updates. No new hardware has been added since I began playing.
I can launch both games without problems. I can begin a campaign and load maps, but when I try to start a battle, nothing happens. The battle screen appears, the loading music starts, yet it remains stuck—endlessly. This is happening with all three titles.
The only workaround I’ve discovered so far was pressing ALT-TAB while in the game and then clicking the game icon on the taskbar. It instantly restarts the loading process. It’s strange, really. No battles load unless I do that. Do anyone else have encountered this problem?
I’m unsure if it’s related to an admin setting or some other issue. Many people have complained about recent Windows 10 updates, and I’ve noticed significant performance drops. I see performance issues in my library with these games, except for the recent Windows updates. I’ve rolled back the updates and tried the Total War titles, but the same problem persists.
Details: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, GTX 1070, 32 GB RAM, Windows 10 64-bit, three SSDs (one for Windows, one for games, and one for general use).
Download the GPU drivers directly from the manufacturer's site. Reinstall and adjust settings again.
Check Update History for any issues with Windows updates.
Also review Reliability History for game-specific error codes, warnings, and events that started after a Windows 10 update. (The timeline format helps identify potential problems.)
It may be a corrupted file.
Use the built-in troubleshooters to see if they can locate and resolve the issue.
Run "sfc /scannow" and "dism" as well.

Thank you for your message. I've tried all the suggestions you gave. Still no success. I waited for a battle to load, prepared dinner, and returned, but the loading screen remains stuck. Every time I switch tabs or return to the game, it starts loading in half a second. I don't understand what's happening.
