I don’t know where to begin, but essentially Windows 10 has become a major hassle. The system frequently freezes and I’m forced to restart it completely. The start menu stops working and everything expected vanishes. Its speed has dropped significantly. I’m curious if this is connected to Spectre/Meltdown issues. My computer still functions well for gaming, though it’s quite slow. It’s outdated but still reliable. I can’t afford an upgrade right now. My drive isn’t failing—my Samsung 850 Pro 256GB is only a year old and was securely erased before I reinstalled it two days ago. Are others experiencing similar problems?
I experienced several issues including broken login screens, explorer crashes, vanishing taskbars, lagging, stutters, etc. No matter how many times I reinstalled, the problems persisted since the 1709 update. Eventually, I moved to Linux. Now I use Windows only for gaming and a virtual machine for MS Office.
I've noticed the start menu glitch. When you click, the animation fails to play and the top section loads slowly with a noticeable delay before the rest appears. It's a small detail but definitely present. I also encountered a problem where the computer wouldn't open the task manager or start menu at all after restarting. Once it rebooted, everything worked properly. These issues seem more common on lower-end machines running Windows 1709. It might be a combination of performance limitations and a bug.
