Recent issues with the new PC, GPU, RAM and USB connections.
I just assembled my first PC with my friend and bought all the latest components during Black Friday. The current build features an AMD Ryzen 5600X processor, a MSI Pro B550m-VC WiFi motherboard, an MSI Gaming Radeon RX 6750 XT graphics card with 12 GB RAM, a Pure Power 12 M 750W power supply, and Silicon Power Value Gaming DDR4 RAM. My friend, who also builds PCs, helped us install Windows using a USB drive with my mouse and keyboard connected to the motherboard and GPU linked to the monitor. After the installation, I entered my credentials and connected to Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, no Wi-Fi appeared on the screen, so we restarted the PC. When that happened, the monitor reported no display and the GPU fan stopped working.
What actually occurred was: Windows installed successfully, but we couldn’t connect to Wi-Fi, so a reboot was necessary. The PC powered on normally, the CPU fan spun while the RAM light stayed white, and the GPU fan briefly activated for three seconds before shutting off. The mouse turned on for five seconds during startup, but the display cord was connected to the GPU. I’m 70% confident Windows worked until it reached the Wi-Fi connection, though the GPU didn’t seem faulty—it was functioning properly before. It also showed no display at all.
Please let me know what might have happened or suggest possible fixes. (The GPU isn’t overheating, as it’s brand new and hasn’t been used yet.) If you’d like a video, just ask and I can share it so we can discuss further.
Did you attach the extra GPU power cable? Were any diagnostic lights triggered on the motherboard? I’d replug and re-seat everything carefully, including the PSU side. Updated December 1, 2023 by leclod
What is the RAM speed? Were XMP/DOCP enabled in the BIOS? Restart the system by briefly connecting the CMOS reset pins on the board while it's powered off and attempt again.
