Recent issues with Minecraft frame and GPU performance.
Hey, I’m experiencing some stuttering in Minecraft lasting about half a second. The GPU drops noticeably, and the percentage depends on how long the stutter lasts—longer drops mean bigger drops. I’ve tried boosting RAM to 4GB, turned off hyper threading in NVIDIA settings, and enabled full Windows performance. Optimofine was set to max/min only. Temperatures stay below 65°C. I’ve checked the specs: Intel i5-4690, RTX 650 Ti, Seagate Barracuda ST 1000DM003 (1TB), 650W PSU, 8GB DDR3, HP 2AF7. My PC runs Windows 10. I’m not sure why this keeps happening and haven’t found a solution online yet.
GPU performance declines due to CPU or RAM limitations. When Minecraft with OptiFine is running, press escape on your keyboard, then go to Performance in the bottom-right options menu. Enable all settings and adjust chunk updates to 1.
I adjusted all configurations to their minimum settings (distance 2, high FPS, etc). The CPU usage stayed under 60%, which suggests the issue might be with RAM. It's interesting that Minecraft works well on players with just 2GB allocated—appreciate the prompt response, I'll aim for 16GB soon.
I mentioned setting aside 4GB in my initial message, but so far I haven’t found a solution to this issue.
The "system" you notice in Task Manager using up your HDD bandwidth is likely Superfetch or the renamed service called SysMain. I turn it off on any Windows 10 machine without an SSD. It's a service that attempts to cache your Windows directories for faster searching, and disabling it generally improves performance. You can find more details here: https://www.techsupportall.com/what-is-s...isable-it/. You might also consider using Sodium for better frame rates instead of Optifine.
