Hello, I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop (link provided) and attempted to play the new DOOM game, but encountered a severely low framerate—often below 20 frames per second. Initially, I doubted my system could handle the game, but I saw a video showing someone running it smoothly on the same machine. The NVIDIA control panel indicated the game was using the correct GPU, yet performance remained poor. I’m unsure if my setup is flawed or if there’s another factor at play. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't find his settings and yours weren't shared. You might have them configured higher than his. Also, because your computer is brand new, turn off all startup programs.

Ensure you have the newest drivers installed. My XPS 15 (6700HQ and 960m) previously operated smoothly at around 10 fps after updating. Now it runs at 60fps in 1080p with medium settings and 75% resolution scaling.

Updated my drivers and the game performed significantly better. Running smoothly at 30fps or higher on medium settings at 1080p, and consistently above 60 at 720p. It’s unclear if the improvement comes from your CPU or another factor. If you have tips to boost performance further, I’d really appreciate it.

Reducing resolution scaling boosts frames per second while keeping visual quality stable. FXAA is being used for anti-aliasing. Experimenting with settings like lighting, shadows, depth of field, motion blur, and particle effects can improve performance without noticeably affecting the look.
