Recent installation, slow startup durations and sporadic crashes in the file manager
I recently assembled a new PC two months ago. It came with an Intel i9 13900k, Dominator Platinum DDR5 32GB, 6000MHz RAM, Rtx 3070 Ti, and several high-end components including a Rog Strix Z790-F, Corsair Hi50i Elite Capellix, Rocket 4 Plus, and additional storage. Initially, everything functioned well with quick boot times. After a three-week vacation, I unplugged the machine before returning. When I reconnected it, Windows Auto Repair launched but took much longer than usual. Once operational, File Explorer became sluggish and eventually crashed, halting the system completely. I tried restarting and ran command prompts, but no issues were detected. The problem continued. I removed recent updates and restarted again. This time the PC failed to load the BIOS after entering BIOS settings, remained unresponsive for four hours before powering off. After rebooting, Windows Auto Repair reappeared, locking the screen in a black state for another four hours before shutdown. This iteration involved reinstalling Windows, cleaning the installation, updating drivers, enabling XMP and Intel Adaptive Boost. Despite these adjustments, the file explorer remained unresponsive and eventually crashed.
Which Windows version are you running? 10 or 11? When using 10, I always kept the internet disconnected during uninstallation to prevent Microsoft from installing unnecessary software on my computer. Sometimes internet access would even cause ongoing issues during reinstalls if I was online. For Windows 11, I think there are some recommendations for offline installation, but I’m not sure what they are. Personally, I use the custom 11 ISO, Ghost Spectre, which supports offline setup.
Looks like I'm done trying. If I have to wait another diagnostic, I could start crying.
