I'm setting up a system with these specs: CPU AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, GPU Asus TUF RX6900XT OC, cooler Arctic Liquid Freezer ii 280 A-RGB, power Corsair RM1000X 1000W, RAM 32 GB (8GB x 4), RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2Z3600C14, Samsung B-Die, 3600 MHz cache latency. Case fans Arctic F12 PWM PST 120mm (6 units), SSD Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB, and a Corsair 5000D Airflow Black motherboard. The warning from PC Part Picker mentions the Vengeance LPX 16 GB RAM may run slower than recommended due to voltage requirements. It seems the memory might need adjustment or higher voltage support. Everything else appears fine, but I want clarity on whether this could affect stability or performance. Please confirm if this poses a risk and how to resolve it. Thank you!
Regular users successfully use 1.5v memory on Samsung B die systems without problems. The RAM supports this setting, which is the main consideration. If issues arose, those memory solutions wouldn't exist (similar error messages occur on Intel platforms). 1.5v is typically the upper safe voltage for everyday use, though exceeding it may need cooling and offers minimal performance gains over 1.6v. 1.45v is acceptable, so it's fine. I'm currently running a B die kit at 3800MHz CL16-13-13-21 with 1.5v and have not encountered any problems, planning to stick with this setting until I upgrade to DDR5.
Thank you for your reply. A user mentioned that lower speed DDR4 operates at 1.20V, while quicker modules typically run at 1.35V. Higher voltages like 1.45V could be problematic, especially if you try to run DDR4 3600 CAS 14. Using all four memory slots might make stability difficult, as higher voltages increase stress on the CPU's memory controller. It seems more reliable to stick with kits rated for 1.35V. The Corsair site claims to be optimized for Ryzen, which adds to the confusion.
They're likely missing the importance of the Ryzen memory controller. On many CPUs and a solid motherboard, it's feasible to run four memory modules at 4000MHz by decoupling the FCLK. A 3600MHz CL14 should be manageable as long as you're not using a defective CPU. I support their view that running at 1.45v isn't advisable, mainly because such kits tend to be expensive compared to reliable options like a 3200CL14 or another B-Die model that should reliably hit 3600MHz CL14 with little overclocking needed.
