Last night I received a notification about a Windows update available for my system. It turned out to be just one update labeled Windows 11 24H2. Can I still install 23H2 and keep important updates like security and framework patches? Or am I stuck updating to 24H2? I’m really anxious about this. I don’t want to risk installing the recall spyware, and it will take up 150GB of my hard drive for a feature I don’t need.

Reminder isn't required. The size difference between 24H2 and 23H2 is minimal, similar to a standard service pack.

Yes, you have the option to restrict it, even though 23H2 will likely be taken out of support soon.

Recall sets aside 150GB for use on drives that are 1TB or bigger. I understand I can decline the opt-out, but I question whether it truly prevents background activity. Microsoft has long since ignored its customers, making the "opt out" choice unreliable for me.

The article explains how drive space recall works. It also provides guidance on removing a recall if needed. You might want to check your system settings or contact Microsoft support for further help.

My computer and laptop have stayed on continuously for a while now, and BitLocker remains off. Recall wasn’t set up automatically, and I haven’t lost any files or data unexpectedly.

Are you sure your device is a Copilot+ certified model? I don't think so. With the latest 24H2 update, recall isn't available. The Privacy & Security settings don't list 'Recall' or 'Snapshots'. My version is from two weeks ago. If you don't have a recent Copilot+ PC, it's fine. Check the links for more details.
