I don’t understand the point of trying it, yet I’d avoid putting myself in that situation with no strong hopes.

Agreed – the issue hinges on understanding the root cause. If you can identify what’s causing the problem and resolve it, things should work fine. We’d need more information about its symptoms. Does it transition to the POST screen, then wait briefly before booting with the OS logo and restarting? Are there any error messages displayed after passing the POST stage, or does it simply power off and turn back on? Does it display a POST screen at all, or is everything just black after the POST? Knowing these details could guide a fix or suggest it’s time to replace the device. Also, having its specifications would be helpful.
