reboot only during gaming
reboot only during gaming
Hello,
I’m experiencing a critical error 41 that points to an unexpected power loss. This issue occurs only during random game timings—10, 20, or 30 minutes in-game or even when starting the main menu before pressing start.
Here are my PC specifications:
- CPU: RYZEN 5 7500F
- GPU: RX 6800XT
- RAM: 2x16 Lexar Ares 6400 DDR5
- M.2: Gigabyte B650 eagle ax
- PSU: Seasonic Focus gm-750
- NVMe: Samsung 970evo plus + Crucial P3
- OS: Windows 11 25H2
I’ve looked up solutions online and tried several fixes, but the problem persists.
Software adjustments I attempted included:
- Updating graphics drivers
- Uninstalling and reinstalling drivers for MOBO
- Disabling core isolation
- Clearing TPM
- Turning off secureboot
- Enabling hybrid mode
- Updating BIOS
- Running the scannow command
- Installing a new OS: Windows 10
Hardware settings were disabled (EXPO, fastboot, C-state), and I re-seated all cables.
I swapped the MOBO, RAM, and CPU with an i5 13400F-32GB Patriot Viper DDR4 B660M chipset.
All tests passed:
- Heaven benchmark
- Superposition
- 3DMark
- Cinebench
- AIDA64 (CPU & memory 1 hour)
- Furmark (1 hour)
- OCCT power test (1 hour)
No OC was applied to the CPU or GPU, and all benchmarks stayed within normal ranges for the components. Stress tests ran for an hour without any crashes or instability.
Could something be causing this if the PSU or GPU had failed during these tests?
M.B : Gigabyte B650 eagle ax
Updated for current BIOS
For clarity, which BIOS version is active on your motherboard?
PSU : Seasonic Focus gm-750
How long has this PSU been in use and what capacity did it support?
NVME : Samsung 970evo plus + Crucial P3
It would be wise to verify if both SSDs require a firmware update.
Install new OS "windows 10"
According to your system specs, you mention Windows 11 25H2, but you claim to reinstall with Windows 10. Are you planning to upgrade to Windows 11 via the internal upgrade method? Have you regenerated the bootable USB installer to avoid a faulty installation? Are you installing the OS offline, disconnecting all drives except the one for installation? Where did you obtain the installers for both Windows 10 and 11?
Swapped the MOBO&RAM&CPU with (i5 13400f-32gb patriot viper ddr4-b660m d2h)
A platform change means you’ll need to reinstall the OS, especially if you performed troubleshooting on the AM5 platform mentioned earlier.
The PSU is quite old. The 6000 series GPUs from AMD experienced significant transients and spikes. I'm considering switching to an 850w ATX3.1 to better manage the power fluctuations on the GPU. ATX 3.0 and 3.1 were developed to address these issues. These problems weren't limited to AMD; Nvidia's 2000 and 3000 series cards also faced similar challenges.
Ensure auto-reboot on system failure is disabled. (clear the checkbox)
Next time, instead of rebooting, you should encounter a BSOD with some details.

If reboots persist, it may be due to overheating or PSU protections activating.
Verify CPU and GPU temperatures. Enhance cooling solutions.
When temperatures are normal, consider upgrading your PSU to a more powerful model (850W or 1000W).
If a PSU upgrade isn’t feasible, use MSI Afterburner to set the GPU power limit to the minimum allowed. This reduces GPU power usage and may prevent PSU protections from triggering.
