I never considered permissions. Since the post above comes from my backup script, it will run Minecraft as root—which is likely not ideal. Perhaps create a Minecraft user and assign the appropriate role.

I didn’t understand whether permissions were the issue. I came across Minecraft Server Manager, which is really helpful. It’s simple to use and automatically starts the server when it boots. Thanks to both of you for your assistance—it guided me correctly.
