Really Low Download speeds from my Realtek wifi card HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In recent days I've noticed significantly slow internet performance on the 5GHz Wi-Fi band using my laptop (Legion5 16IRX9). I'm unsure of the cause yet. I've tried several troubleshooting steps: updated network drivers first, reset the adapter, toggled it on and off, and even turned the router itself on and off. However, other devices like phones and PCs are downloading and uploading data smoothly. The upload speeds seem normal, but download speeds vary and aren't consistent. I've attached a screenshot for reference.
I downloaded drivers from Realtek and the official Lenovo site. I also checked Microsoft’s update catalog. 2) I tested on a 5GHz network from the same spot. 3) The problem started just three days ago. Under normal conditions I got solid speeds, but now it’s inconsistent. 4) The Wi-Fi password is locked, so no one else can access it. 5) I tried too, but the issue only affects my laptop. Could you rephrase this? When I run a speed test, downloads on my machine vary and don’t stay steady, while uploads seem fine. It’s confusing.
Depending on your proximity to others, someone nearby might have improved their configuration, leading to issues. Consider using a Linux live USB; if the problem persists, it may point to hardware concerns. A failing Wi-Fi card could be the issue—often inexpensive and simple to swap, but possibly another antenna wire is loose, which is easy to fix.
I didn’t mean to lose your attention, but earlier today the problem seemed to disappear for a while before returning. I’ll make sure to check if someone is consuming the bandwidth. Also, I’ll attempt using Linux USB to see if it resolves the issue.
@Miran Haider Could you share the brand and model of your wireless router or gateway? Also, are other devices connected to the same network while you're conducting these speed tests? I'd like to review the data from a WiFi spectrum analyzer. Just a reminder, a couple of days ago was Christmas... many people received new electronics, possibly including WiFi equipment... everyone seems excited... Where do you think this conversation is heading?
