You could carefully remove the heat spreader to expose the CPU, then inspect it directly. Alternatively, use a precision tool to gently pry it off for a closer look.

It's referred to as de-lidding. Numerous instructions are accessible on the web. As long as the IHS isn't soldered, you should be able to proceed.

Based on the socket CPU, the specific make of the delidding tools is identified.

Check if the CPU is soldered or has thermal paste between the core and IHS. If thermal paste is present, proceed with delidding using a razor blade. Alternatively, you can employ a wood block and a vice technique.

Sure, you're aiming to remove the lid. If you don't mind the CPU not running and the chip isn't soldered as described, a razorblade and some patience should get you there.

Obtain a used Sempron or Duron chip. The silicon die is exposed on the surface, so no desoldering required. You can remove it by heating the CPU on a stove.

It’s because your mind picks up on others’ actions more easily, making them seem clearer or more obvious.

It varies based on the CPU model you're working with. Certain processors have the IHS permanently attached to the chip, which can cause damage if removed. Others have the IHS secured with adhesive, making it easier to handle without risking harm.
