Ordered a MSI Z690 Unify X paired with Corsair Vengeance 32GB (two 16GB) DDR5 6600 32-39-39-76 CMK32GX5M2X6600C32 package. I’m looking for stable performance and full stability with my 13900K. I want it to run smoothly without extra cooling at XMP speeds on this board. It’s listed on MSI Support if it works; otherwise, I’ll send it back since DDR4 is the only option for me.
I've faced exactly the same issue. My Asus Prime Z790-P MB and G.SKILL 32GB DDR5 kit at 7200MHz CL34 Trident Z5 RGB Black (F5-7200J3445G16GX2-TZ5RK) didn't perform well under XMP settings. I switched both the motherboard and RAM, then purchased a different ASUS model to test. The problem persisted, actually worsening with the new MB/RAM combo—more errors in less time than before. I managed stability by lowering the speed to 6800 MHz (timings adjusted automatically from the XMP tweaked profile). TM5 Extreme ran without issues for four hours. I'm still puzzled about the root cause; many report similar failures even with premium units.
Even the Asus Z790 Apex wouldn't function, so consider returning it on eBay (thank you for buyer protection—no returns from the seller, but they tried to contest it, and clearly eBay supports buyers). Also, experienced issues with Z790 Hero and Z790-F Strix models using WHEAs, plus occasional BSODs. The MSI Z690 Unify X performs well with DDR5 at XMP settings.
I believe the issue will be fixed soon with new BIOS releases. I’m satisfied with the 6800 MHz CL34 right now, even though it means missing out on 400 MHz of performance.
