Reaching the 43x multiplier barrier in Rampage IV Black edition - E5 1660 v1
Reaching the 43x multiplier barrier in Rampage IV Black edition - E5 1660 v1
Hello everyone. I'm just starting out on the forum.
I recently purchased a Xeon e5 1660 v1 for my RIVBE, aiming to perform an overclock at a low cost (around 120 euros) and build a solid workstation.
After extensive research online, I realized that most Xeon models from the 16XX series appear to have unlocked multipliers (or I hope I haven't found the only exception with a locked one).
My previous CPU was an e5 1620 v1, which I know has a locked multiplier of 43x.
Now that I've installed my new CPU, I found out it can't exceed x43 either. The issue is that my motherboard doesn’t support POSTing.
I could try using a higher multiplier (up to 57x), but anything above 43x just won’t work, even with different voltages.
Why can’t my RIVBE overclock beyond 43x? Should I need to modify something?
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem here? Have you encountered similar issues?
Apologies if my English comes across as a bit awkward, and thank you in advance for your assistance.

If you didn't reset CMOS before modifying the processor, please do so.
If you didn't reset CMOS after changing the processor, please do so. I attempted two different BIOSes and reset it around thirty times. The board has an auto-reset feature. I'm sure the BIOS reset issue is resolved on modern Asus boards. It works quite well.
