RDR2 Crash on startup

The game fails to launch and crashes on the load screen or smoke screen, even in safe mode. No one else seems to have this problem. Specific details: SPEC 7700k, Strix Z270h, 16GB RAM, Nvidia 2070 Super, Windows 10 Pro, latest drivers installed.

I believe it's impressive that the game actually loads at all. My Rockstar Games launcher keeps crashing too, which affects many people.

Successfully loaded the game after checking the download. I added the AVG-exceptions folder to the exceptions, and it worked.

Do you rely on Vulkan or DX12? There are reports of crashes linked to DX12 in RDR2.

I experienced the same problem. The game would crash immediately after loading two bullits and right after the red Rockstar logo appeared. I resolved it by turning off shields in my antivirus (Avast) and it worked properly for about an hour before I quit the game.

I just included the rockstar folder in my Avast exception list
this is the first game I've had problems with for a while

It was the very first game to encounter issues with avast. Still, it had to be the pioneer.

It was just irritated last night, man... I don’t normally receive games with pre-orders either. But I managed to fix it and I believe there’s an update this morning too.
