RDC experiences periodic freezes?
Hello,
I'm a developer involved with a FiveM & Minecraft community, which means I often manage a VPS. Over time, while working on this group, we've encountered two different VPS setups, and in both cases the same issue has arisen.
Essentially, the RDC freezes without becoming unresponsive; instead, only the part of the screen displaying the VPS becomes completely unresponsive.
Some suggestions were given to use Group Policy Editor (maybe?), but that didn't resolve the problem. The issue remains unchanged.
My internet connection is slow due to living in the Welsh countryside, which is expected, but this problem hasn't occurred on any other device I've used. Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Note: My internet speed is around 2.4Mb/s, and I'm connected via Ethernet to the router. This isn't a bandwidth issue since only my PC and phone are connected to the router.
EDIT: The connection quality to the VPS is consistently strong, staying between 4-5 bars, never dropping below that.
EDIT 2:
There are no warnings or informational events of interest. When I say the VPS freezes, I mean it suddenly stops responding on my end, which forces me to restart the Remote Desktop connection to keep working.
Is this about a Virtual Private Server being virtualized? Who oversees that server? Can you reach out to them or the organization? What do they say?
Regarding RDC, is it a Remote Desktop Connection? Please update your message with detailed system specifications and operating system information for your development machine. Check the Reliability History and Event Viewer for any error codes, warnings, or related events that might explain the freezes you're facing.
Consider whether power stability (4-5 bars) matters more than quality, and note that a cap only restricts data transfer rates, not the number of devices.
Who provides your ISP and what service tier are you subscribed to?
Sorry I should have added all of this information in the initial post. It's a VPS we pay for from ZAP hosting. We did have the previous one from OVH and it was doing the exact same thing.
I will update the rest of the post with relevant information you have requested
