She secured herself by locking the device, and since she hadn't synced her Google account, it became difficult to use. I considered installing a Windows copy, but I wondered if choosing a 64-bit or 32-bit version made a difference.

It really counts. The 64-bit version won't run on a 32-bit system, and adding a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit one significantly reduces speed.

Thanks, I'm still working on it but it's an RCA Viking Pro 10, a few years old. My guess would be 32-bit. I seem to be using some hidden settings, but I can't locate them. Developer mode isn't available in this version.
